Rosé continues to grow in popularity in this country. When the sun comes out it seems that more and more people reach for the rosé. Rosé can be made from a huge variety of red grape varieties, the grape skins staining the clear juice varying degrees of pink giving flavour and structure to the wines. These are refreshing rosés to be enjoyed young, with or without food.

Wildwood 2007, California: Made from cabernet sauvignon and shiraz, this fruity rosé comes from the Lodi region of California and boasts flavours of fresh strawberries, cherries and watermelon. A deliciously crisp and fruity wine.
Borsao 2007, Spain: In Spain, more rosé is drunk than white wine. Almost all are made from the garnacha (or grenache) grape variety which with its thin skin is a perfect grape to use for this style of wine. This classic example has good crisp cherried fruit and is a good match for a wide variety of foods
Santiago 2008, Chile: Made from cabernet sauvignon grown in Chile’s Central Valley, this Chilean rosé is full of strawberry and cherry flavours and makes an excellent aperitif out on the terrace.
Val da Clara 2007, Portugal: A subtle and complex wine, the mineral soils of the Douro valley shine through here giving a slatebed freshness and crispness to this highly refreshing rosé. Made from three local grape varieties, this is definitely a food wine and would be a perfect partner to smoked fish, charcuterie and melon dishes.
