A GLAMOROUS and glitzy musical is set to get audiences tapping their feet at Oxford’s New Theatre.
Almost 50 members of Oxford Operatic Society will be swapping their work clothes for sequins and hotpants when they star in the 1930s-themed musical 42nd Street.
The show tells the story of would-be dancer Peggy Sawyer as she strives for Broadway stardom.
On arrival in New York she manages to land a part in a brand-new musical, but the show is put into jeopardy when the leading lady breaks her ankle — and all eyes turn to Peggy to save the day.
Chilina Madon, the group’s publicity officer, said: “It’s a brilliant, family friendly show with lots of glitz and glamour.”
The musical opens on Tuesday, May 19, and runs until Saturday, May 23, at The New Theatre in George Street, Oxford. Tickets are available from the box office on 0870 606 3500 and cost between £12 and £17.
