Sir – You featured several things about Simon Callow protesting about the plans for Brookes University’s development in your April 30 issue.
He is not a resident, and therefore knows little about the economics of this city. It depends crucially on the two universities it has, and what they contribute to the nation’s well-being.
There should be sensitivity to the existing architecture, but to appeal to the Oxford skyline once the John Radcliffe Hospital had been built, beggars belief. He should remember that he is just an actor.
