OXFORD rivalled Paris and Milan as models hit the catwalk showcasing collections from some of the world’s best-known designers.
Models pounded the runway to the sounds of Amy Winehouse, the Beatles and Blondie at yesterday's launch of Oxford’s first Fashion Week at The Bridge nightclub in Hythe Bridge Street.
Hundreds of people are expected to flock to venues across the city for six nights this week, including the Sheldonian Theatre, Freud’s in Walton Street and The Bridge, with organisers hailing it the UK’s biggest event after London Fashion Week.
Organiser Carl Anglim, 22, a former law student at Merton College, said: “I’m pleased it got off to a great start.”
Designers involved include LK Bennett, Zara, French Connection and Alexander McQueen.
