I would suggest that quite a percentage of accidents are caused through frustration, often caused by congestion and hold-ups.
A 20mph speed limit would undoubtedly add to the already high level of congestion in the city.
Maybe the new limit will help accident figures in the city, but often frustration results in drivers taking risks after leaving the city – with high-speed accidents.
Unfortunately the limit will also cause more pollution, with drivers staying in second gear to keep within the limit.
