Oxfordshire County Council is spending millions putting in a bus lane and supposedly making London Road, Headington, a safer place.
But where is the logic?
There are more than 600 buses going through Headington every day. They should be finding ways of cutting down this volume, not making it quicker for them.
When this work is complete, the buses will be a lot closer to pedestrians as they have narrowed the pavements. How can this be safer? It’s a total waste of money.
I suggested that, before they started doing any work, they should terminate the London buses at Thornhill park & ride, then they would not have to come through Headington and along the High Street into town.
They could then have run local buses dropping passengers off there.
The council said it would consider my views, but decided against the plan.
