SEVENTY-EIGHT pupils at St Christopher Primary School in Cowley joined youngsters all over the country to try and get the most number of people skipping at the same time.
Teacher Lynn Roberts said: “It was amazing, the whole playground was covered with skipping.”
The existing record, set in 2006, saw 7,632 people skipping together.
Confirmation will take several weeks, but a spokesman for Ed Venture, which organised the attempt, said they believed they had beaten the record with at least 19,822 people skipping at 284 different schools.
Hanwell Fields School, in Banbury, and Stadhampton Primary also took part.
