CHILDREN and school staff are celebrating after the opening of a revamped canteen and kitchen area.
The £160,000 project at St Andrew’s Primary School in London Road, Headington, marked the end of a 10-year modernisation programme at the school.
Governor Howard Pearce said: “Basically the canteen hadn’t been altered, other than painted, since it was built in the 1940s and it always stuck out like a sore thumb.”
The kitchen was gutted then fitted with new ovens and refrigerators.
Mr Pearce said: “It has made a huge difference. The children like going there and the kitchen staff are delighted, because it has made their life easier and more efficient.”
