Sir – Oh dear! Yet another glass set of boxes for Oxford Brookes. It is not surprising that neighbours of Oxford Brookes are less than enthusiastic at plans to redevelop the University’s Headington campus.
Despite claims of the proposed design providing an iconic gateway building for Oxford, it’s not surprising many have greeted its design proposals as having little architectural merit.
As one observer, recently said: ‘it is just another bland, boxy, set of glass fronted office blocks, with little to recommend it.’ At present the design looks more like a bunch of Lego bricks than a building of architectural merit.
Where is Prince Charles when you need him, to challenge the project’s architects to come up with something worthy of a world-class university that is Oxford Brookes today.
