Former singer Kerry Katona is due to address the Oxford Union.

The reality TV star, who rose to fame with Atomic Kitten, will tell an expected audience of 250 about her mental health problems.

The 28-year-old mother-of-four has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, which she says affects her moods and behaviour.

The speech will be filmed for Katona's MTV reality television series.

An Oxford Union spokesman said: "We invite a diverse range of speakers and we think that our members will be interested to hear Kerry Katona, who will be speaking about her mental illness and how it has affected her life.

"She has had an interesting relationship with the media and the British public, and we look forward to having her at The Union."

Previous speakers at the world-famous debating society include the Dalai Lama, Malcolm X, Richard Nixon and Mother Teresa.

Katona, who was married to Westlife's Brian McFadden, has attracted controversy over alleged drug use.

When her speech appeared to be slurred in an appearance on This Morning last year, Katona claimed medication for her bipolar disorder was to blame.
