Neighbourhood police in Wantage will be offering advice to youngsters and parents about the dangers of underage drinking.
Working with the Sweatbox Union youth forum, the neighbourhood policing team will be speaking to young people about the dangers associated with excessive alcohol consumption between 7.30pm and 10.30pm at an event at The Sweatbox in Springfield Road on Friday. They will also be offering advice to parents as they drop off and collect their children.
They will be joined by Trish Reeves, the Operational Supervisor for South Central Ambulance NHS Trust, who will give a presentation and practical advice such as how to put people in the recovery position.
Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Sue Harris said: “I would like to encourage young people to attend this very informative evening, but also would like parents to come and meet us on the exhibition unit, when they drop off or collect their children as we have information for them as well.
“We are very grateful to Garry Kingett, the Area Youth Worker, for his support with this event and hope that we will be able to educate the community about the dangers in a bid to prevent any alcohol-related incidents.”
