FORMER staff and governors gathered together to say a final goodbye to their Oxford school.
Peers School closed in September to make way for The Oxford Academy.
On Saturday, about 40 people met for a final handover of files which document the final two years of the school.
The event was held at the Jack Peers Centre – an outdoor learning facility used by Peers pupils, at Views Farm in Great Milton, and was organised by Charles Peers, son of former county councillor Jack Peers, whose name was taken by the school in Sandy Lane West, Littlemore, in 1968.
Andrew Parsons, the last chairman of governors, said: “We were concerned that we hadn’t done a history of the school.
“There was very little material we could lay our hands on, but we wanted to make sure that historians would have something to look at in the future.”
Among the items the archive material included are details of the school’s last formal event, and lists of the names of all staff and exam results.
