Police and Oxfordshire County Council Fire and Rescue Service are investigating a house fire in Yarnton.
More than 20 firefighters were called to Merton Way at 1.30am today after the property’s roof caught alight.
The fire spread to the roof of an adjacent semi-detached house and affected the building’s gas supply, causing a fire plume outside.
A smoke alarm alerted the property's occupants and they escaped without injury.
Firefighter John Nixon said “It was only the prompt action by initial fire crews that prevented this incident escalating.
“Crews worked through the night to strip away and make the area safe."
