A man suffered a broken nose in an attempted robbery in an internet cafe.

Police are appealing for witnesses who were in Benny’s newsagents, in St Aldates, Oxford at 3.45pm yesterday. A man, in his 40s, was in the basement using the internet cafe when a woman came up to him and grabbed his bag.

He turned around to get it back when another man came up to him and smashed him in the face.

The pair of would-be robbers then left the shop, leaving the bag behind.

The man was white and thought to be around 25 years old, with brown hair and stubble.

He was about 5ft 10ins, medium build and was wearing a dark top with the sleeves rolled up.

The woman is white around 5ft 6ins to 5ft 7ins and under 25 years old. She has short sandy blonde hair. She was wearing a dark top.

Det Con Simon Beaton said: “The man sustained a broken nose in the assault. This is a distressing, nasty incident and we will not tolerate this type of crime.

“It is possible that another man might have been involved and I would ask that anyone who may have seen these men or the woman before, during, or after the robbery or have any information to get in touch.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
