This year during Foster Care Fortnight there are events to encourage more people to take the next step towards making a difference to a child’s life by becoming a foster carer. Falling for fostering Maria White, marketing and recruitment officer for the family placement team at Oxfordshire County Council, will be doing a sponsored sky-dive, donating all the money she raises to the British Association for Adoption and Fostering.
She said: “The reason for me doing the sky-dive is to raise awareness of the urgent need to have more foster carers.
“I want this year’s Foster Care Fortnight to be the most successful yet.
Fit for fostering All the foster carers across the county will be taking part in community walks, distributing information by posting leaflets to residents in their local area.
Fostering with the Heart Angels In partnership with Heart radio station, there will be two fun events where the ‘Heart Angels’ will be setting up an interactive studio, allowing children and adults to have a go at being a radio presenter.
Family placement staff will also be on hand to give people more information about fostering, and how they could become a foster carer.
Just go along to Castle Quay, Banbury, between 1pm-4pm on Saturday, May 16, or The Orchard Centre, Didcot, on Saturday, May 23, from 1pm-4pm.
