I READ with some disbelief, but much merriment at the waste of time, about Pc John Ablett who had his neighbour Robin Demczak arrested for having a pig ornament in his garden and graffiti on his shed (Oxford Mail, April 15).
I read it twice to make sure I was not seeing things, then I laughed and laughed at the sheer absurdity of it all!
If you get burgled, you may or may not get a visit from the police. Yet a gentleman of 57 is arrested for displaying an ornamental pig.
This whole thing is utterly, completely silly. Mr Demczak should get an apology from the police and so should his mother.
Whatever happened to the saying ‘An Englishman’s home is his castle’? I have a gnome and a squirrel on my doorstep. I’ll have to remove them – I might just get arrested.
