Police are investigating an attempted murder following a shooting in Oxford.
At about 10.40pm yesterday, two men knocked on the door of a house in Brampton Road, Barton.
When a 59-year-old man came to the door the two men asked him for his name and pulled out a gun.
The man saw the weapon and closed the door, and a shot missed him and hit the wall.
Both men left in a dark coloured car.
One of the men is Asian or mixed race, between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 9ins. He was wearing smart clothes, including a grey top and black blazer.
The victim could not describe the second man, who was holding the gun.
Det Ch Insp Colin Paine said: “I would like to reassure the community that we are treating this as a targeted incident. Although nobody was injured it is being investigated as an attempted murder due to the actions of the offenders.
“A team of dedicated officers will be conducting house-to-house einquiries and the Barton Neighbourhood Policing Team will be carrying out high-visibility patrols in the area to reassure the community.
“I encourage anyone who might know who these people are to contact police immediately.”
