GARY O’Donnell was a true hero and we can think of nothing more fitting than the renaming of a building in his honour at Vauxhall Barracks tomorrow.
Warrant Officer Class 2 O’Donnell was killed while trying to defuse a bomb in Afghanistan and has been awarded the George Medal posthumously.
This brave hero left behind a wife and four children and there is little that can be said to ease their pain. But we hope that the charity truck pull by comrades tomorrow plus the permanent naming of a building in tribute will give them some comfort in knowing their father’s sacrifice will always be remembered.
