A CYCLIST injured in a hit-and-run incident in Oxford is recovering from a life-saving operation for swelling on the brain.

Monica Reddick, 43, also known as Claire, suffered serious head injuries in a collision with a motorcycle in Knights Road, Oxford, at about 2.30pm on Easter Monday.

The motorcyclist failed to stop at the scene. Mrs Reddick, of Blackbird Leys Road, was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, in Headington.

Mrs Reddick was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision and suffered a fractured skull.

She needed an emergency operation after suffering complications on Friday.

Her husband Huw said: “She’s now in the neurosciences unit at the John Radcliffe after undergoing an emergency craniotomy to relieve the pressure caused by an extradural haematoma (blood causing a swelling on the brain).

“She’s doing well and is expected to make a full recovery.”

Mrs Reddick is now in a stable condition.

No-one has been arrested over the incident and the motorbike has not been found.
