Roadworks at St Aldate’s, Oxford, are expected to be completed by the end of the week.
Oxfordshire County Council is close to completing the final phase of its project to give the street a facelift.
Work began on the section next to the route’s junction with Speedwell Street in January.
The worn-out road surface at the junction has been repaired, with drainage and kerbing improved at the same time.
Pedestrian islands in the area have been revamped, using materials similar to those used in the High Street facelift, and traffic signals have been refurbished.
Scotia Gas carried out gas main replacement work at the same time as the highways work.
Traffic signals work has now been completed and paving work is currently being finished.
County Hall has already completed two sets of improvement works at St Aldate’s in recent years.
