Campaigners opposing plans to build a probation centre in a quiet street will take their case to Oxford Town Hall tomorrow.
About 60 West Oxford residents packed the Railway Club in Mill Street on Saturday to discuss how best to fight plans to turn Trajan House, also in Mill Street, into the county’s main probation centre as part of cuts and restructuring to Oxfordshire’s probation service.
A delegation from the campaigners will speak to a meeting of Oxford City Council at 5pm tomorrow to outline their concerns.
On Saturday, residents heard from Abingdon and Oxford West MP Evan Harris about a meeting with Malcolm Fern, chairman of Thames Valley Probation Board, and chief officer Gerry Marshall the day before.
Mr Harris said: “I told them if they came here and spoke to residents they would see the strength and depth of feeling against the plans.”
