Cinema-goers were evacuated from the Vue cinema in Greater Leys last night after a smoke bomb was let off in the foyer.
The cinema was evacuated about at 10.15pm.
One cinema-goer, who was at the pictures with his wife, said: "Halfway through our film an announcement was made asking us to leave the cinema. A member of staff said a smoke bomb had been let off and everyone should leave through the fire exit. It was quite alarming."
The Vue, opposite Oxford United Football Club's Kassam Stadium, is now expected to be inundated with requests for refunds from those who left after they were evacuated from the cinema.
