TOMORROW, Ken and Sylvia Rowland will enjoy a family celebration to mark 60 years of married life.
The couple, who met at a charity dance in Childrey Village Hall, have three children, Christine, 58, Lawrence, 56, and Carol, 54, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Mr Rowland, 85, and Mrs Rowland, 80, whose maiden name was Pullman, were married at St Laurence’s Church, West Challow. The pair, of Garston Lane, say their wedded bliss has been down to a good understanding between them – and Mrs Rowland’s fruit cakes.
Before the duo retired, Mr Rowland was a signalman at Challow Station, a Wantage postman for 17 years and an ambulanceman.
Mrs Rowland was a nanny in West Challow.
