A MAN with Down’s syndrome who launched a public appeal for a girlfriend is to speak about his first visit to a strip club.
Otto Baxter, right, hit the headlines last month when he spoke about how he wanted to lose his virginity.
Now the 21-year-old is to give a talk in Steventon tomorrow about his travels to India, Japan and the United States.
He will also speak about living with Down’s syndrome and his experiences of being filmed for two BBC documentaries.
Mr Baxter, of The Causeway in Steventon, near Didcot, backpacked around India and Japan for six weeks last autumn and went to Las Vegas for a week last month.
He said: “I am going to talk about the camel I saw in Delhi. I tried to ride it and afterwards I fell off.
“I am going to say all about the best karaoke bars in Japan.
“We sang Girls Just Want To Have Fun. We also went to a Japanese opera house.
“And I am going to talk about going to the casino in Vegas where I won $300 on the roulette wheel.”
Mr Baxter starred in BBC documentary Natalie Cassidy's Real Britain, last month.
But producers thought his story was so interesting they are now filming him for a further hour-long documentary due to be aired on BBC3 in July.
Mr Baxter said he used his gambling winnings to pay for his first visit to a strip club while he was in Vegas.
He said: “It was nice. I gave them money in their underwear and one of them took her bra off. It was a private dance.”
Mr Baxter’s mum Lucy Baxter, who adopted him when he was a baby, has supported her son’s three-year quest for more sexual experience.
The 50-year-old mother-of-four said she would be happy if he wanted to pay for a prostitute, and believes his Down’s syndrome had made it more difficult for him to find a partner.
Mr Baxter, an actor who has appeared in productions of Macbeth and The Canterbury Tales, said his ideal woman was TV presenter Fearne Cotton.
After launching his high-profile search for a girlfriend, Mr Baxter has appeared on national television and radio shows — and is even planning to do a photoshoot with a men’s magazine.
He said he had since received a few offers from girls but had not taken any of them up yet.
Mr Baxter’s talk about his travels, called Otto’s Overseas Odyssey, is at Steventon Village Hall tomorrow, from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
