Youngsters brought Oxford’s history back to life by creating masks inspired by characters from the city’s past.
The marvellous mask workshop was held at the Museum of Oxford, in St Aldate’s on Tuesday, and children aged between five and 12 were challenged to make a Viking warrior, a Tudor lady, a Victorian clown or the white rabbit from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland.
Museum assistant Tegan Bennett, who ran the workshop, said: “They really enjoyed making the masks, they got the paints out and glue and really enjoyed being a bit messy.
“We do activities pretty much every day of the school holidays but we haven’t done masks before.
“It was successful and the kids enjoyed it so we might be doing it again.”
Tomorrow, there will be the chance to make moving pictures at the last activity of the Easter holidays.
Workshops based around the works of Oxford author JRR Tolkien will be held in May.
