A motorist was jailed today for seven years at Oxford Crown Court for causing the death of a 28-year-old man on the M40 — before setting fire to his own vehicle.
Bernie McDonagh, aged 24, of Middle Ground, Wheatley, admitted causing death by careless driving, driving while disqualified, possession of cannabis and arson at a previous appearance.
He also admitted having no insurance and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
Ross Shears, 28, of East Sussex, died following a collision on the motorway between Milton Common and Lewknor in July last year.
