OXFORD’S Tourist Information Centre has introduced five new guided walking tours.
The Broad Street centre has developed new routes on the themes of The English Civil War, Gargoyles and Grotesques, Methodist movement founders John and Charles Wesley, Oxford Children’s Stories and the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s birth.
Information centre manager Anne Gallagher said: “We’ve introduced the tours following feedback from visitors on what they would like to see.
“The bookings are incredibly high. We have had an awful lot of interest.”
The centre first began running 16 walking tours four years ago.
There are now 64 tours on offer, including Oxford Gardens; Oxford Literary Figures and Stained Glass Windows in Oxford.
A Harry Potter-themed tour is the most popular.
All five of the new tours began at the start of April and will run until October.
Terry Bremble, president of the Oxford Guild of Blue and Green Badge Guides, said: “Quite a few of the gargoyles have their own story.
“By going on a tour you find out the hidden delights of your city.”
