Sir – The report, Prepare for bad news on Green Belt (April 2), described well the many and serious threats that Oxford’s Green Belt faces, including the impending threat to the Green Belt south of Grenoble Road, and at Wheatley and Berinsfield, which the Oxfordshire Branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) is trying to combat.
As part of its ‘Hands Off Oxford’s Green Belt’ campaign (mentioned in the report), CPRE is organising a rally at Horspath Village Hall at 4pm on Sunday, April 19, at which members of the public will have the opportunity to learn more about the threats to the Green Belt in their area and address their questions and concerns to a panel of speakers, including Dr John Howell MP, Elizabeth Gillespie, district councillor for Garsington and The Baldons, and Ian Scargill, chairman of the Oxford Green Belt Network.
For those who would like to come and see the Green Belt for themselves and to see why it is so valuable, you can join Wesley Smith, former Thames Valley Tonight presenter, who will be leading a walk from Shotover to Horspath, starting at 3pm, along the CPRE’s Oxford Green Belt Way.
