A VILLAGE tea room which has raised £200,000 for charity in the past 10 years is appealing for volunteers.
The Abbey Tea Room, next to Dorchester Abbey, started life 33 years ago and has become a popular tourist location with visitors from all over the world.
Profits from the tea room are paid into the Abbey’s General Fund, with three-quarters going to charitable causes, and the rest spent on the upkeep of the abbey.
About 50 volunteers aged between 14 and 95 work in the tea room. And, yesterday, Felicity Jarman, Pam Reynolds, Jill Brookes, Anne Harcourt, Angela Simpson and Christine Millard, met up to demonstrate some of the delicious cakes on offer.
