THE bus services, or lack of them, seem to be generating an excess of letters to the Oxford Mail of late.
But it was the one regarding the loss of the cross-town service on the North Oxford/Headington route which partigularly interested me, because an answer seemed so obvious; well, to me anyway.
The number of people wishing to make this trip must be rather limited but, if the occasional No 7 bus was diverted via The Ferry Link and Headley Way, calling at the John Radcliffe Hospital en route, it would solve a number of problems.
It would shorten the journey time, remove some of the pollution from the centre of Oxford, and improve access to the JR from North Oxford and the estates to the east of Headington (which at present are poorly served in this respect).
It would also restore the much-needed service to upper Headley Way, so that the residents there could, once again, get to Headington shops, the JR and, perhaps, by extending the terminus points to the Park & Rides, Improve those services as well. Derrick Holt Fortnam Close Headington Oxford
