WITH reference to the continuing argument over the necessity for extra runways at our international airports, consider that the world financial collapse has temporarily reduced this requirement, both for business and holiday flights.
Once we’re over the crisis many international business trips will be deemed unnecessary as video conferencing has already made this a more practical means of running meetings between offices and suppliers.
Sales conferences will still require the personal touch for the foreseeable future, but everyday problem-solving meetings can very often be speedier, more practical and cheaper than paying for flights, meals, hotels and travel.
