A TEENAGER critically injured in a crash on the A34 near Oxford that killed a teenage girl was still seriously ill in hospital last night.
Joe Robinson, 18, of Thame, was injured when a Toyota Yaris he was a passenger in left the carriageway and crashed into trees between the Pear Tree and Botley interchanges at about 4.15am on Tuesday.
The former pupil of St Edward’s School, North Oxford, is on his gap year and plays for Chinnor Rugby Club’s first team and Thame Town Cricket Club.
Fellow passenger Grace Hadman, 17, of Lower Swell, Gloucestershire, died in the crash. The teenager was a boarder at St Edward’s School, where she was studying for A-Levels.
An 18-year-old youth from Boars Hill suffered minor injuries.
A 17-year-old girl has been arrested and bailed on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Both are also St Edward’s pupils.
St Edward’s warden Andrew Trotman said the school would mark the tragedy with a private ceremony when pupils returned after the Easter holiday.
A date for Miss Hadman’s funeral has yet to be set.
