Police are appealing for witnesses after a traffic collision in Banbury Road, Summertown today.
Police were called to a single vehicle collision at 4.30pm involving a blue/green Volkswagen Polo which collided with traffic lights.
The driver, a 73-year-old man has been taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in a critical condition.
Police said it was believed the driver suffered 'a medical episode' whilst driving.
The south end of the Banbury Road remains closed at this time whilst traffic officers carry out an investigation and the vehicle is recovered. The road is expected to reopen between 7.30pm and 8pm.
