A lorry fire tonight closed the northbound carriageway of the M40 in north Oxfordshire.
The road closure was between junction ten at Ardley and junction 12 at Gaydon with queues stretching back to junction nine at Wendlebury.
The fire is close to junction 11 at Banbury on the northbound side of the road but the emergency services have closed the motorway between J10 and J12.
Some trapped traffic is being let past the scene on the southbound carriageway.
Rail services in Oxfordshire also reported delays of up to 50 minutes tonight after safety checks were being made near Tackley.
