Children and staff at a village pre-school near Banbury have been celebrating after getting an outstanding Ofsted report.

The Peachtree Pre-school in Hornton is part of a partnership foundation stage unit at the village primary school. It was praised for empowering children by letting them lead learning.

Inspectors said the children made rapid progress across all areas and received excellent support.

And the pre-school was praised for encouraging children to be “inquisitive and independent learners” and for “promoting healthy choices and self-esteem”.

A spokesman for the pre-school committee said: “We’re really proud of the team and delighted for our own children. We feel our manager Karen Locke is really inspirational.”
