YOUNG and old reminded villagers of Wheatley of the meaning of Easter week with a Procession of Witness through the streets.
The event took place on Good Friday in April 1964.
The Rev H Robinson and Mr C Brock, minister of Wheatley Congregational Church, carrying the cross, headed the procession as it made its way to the village’s fourth annual open-air service.
In those days, Good Friday was regarded as a religious holiday, with many shops closed and other activities curtailed.
