A family escaped from their burning house yesterday — but were unable to save their three cats.
The couple and their two children fled the fire at the house in Ash Lane, Ambrosden, near Bicester, but the blaze killed their three cats.
Two fire crews from Bicester and one from Banbury, as well as a Red Cross fire victim support team, were called to the two-storey house at 10.35am following reports of a fire in the boiler room.
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze involved both the first and second floors of the house.
A spokesman said: “The family was in the house. They were able to get out by themselves, but there were three cats which unfortunately died in the fire.”
She said the cause of the fire was being treated as accidental.
