A new website offering motorbike information, advice and the chance to win free advanced driving lessons has gone live today.
Produced by The Thames Valley Safer Roads Partnership, the Safer Rider website is designed to help bikers enjoy their riding in the region in a safe way.
Along with information about popular motorbike routes in Thames Valley, the website also includes video clips on safe riding, monthly podcasts, a monthly blog from motorbike officer PC Derek Ingram and a section on casualties and the impact of collisions on survivors and families.
Inspector Bob Jarrett, of Thames Valley Roads Policing Unit, said: “I hope bikers take time to look at this website before taking to the roads in our region.
“It offers useful information about popular routes which could help keep them safe.
“I would also strongly recommend bikers to use the website to direct them to further training. By following the links on the site they can book a free six-hour classroom-based course and enter a competition to win free advanced motorbike lessons and a test.”
Dan Campsall, communications manager for the Safer Roads Partnership said: “Bikers make up over one fifth of those killed or seriously injured on the roads.
"Our hope is that by providing good information on a wide range of motorcycling issues and helping them to access high quality training we can start to change that; making the roads a safer place for everyone.”
