A man was found unconscious in a supermarket car park in Abingdon.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the victim was punched in the chest, causing him to fall into railings at Waitrose car park in Abbey Close on Tuesday.

Det Sgt Dave Horsburgh said: “We are keen to determine the circumstances surrounding the assault and would ask anyone who saw the man when he left the pub and before he was assaulted, to get in touch.

“I would ask that anyone who witnessed this seemingly completely unprovoked assault to get in touch and ask anyone with any information to contact me.”

The man was walking from The Plough pub in Stert Street between 7.40pm and 7.53pm when he was attacked.

He does not remember the incident but a member of the public witnessed the attack and called police.

The attacker, who was with another man, walked away in the direction of Audlett Drive.

He was described as white, aged between 16 and 20, 5ft 8ins and of average build with light brown collar length hair, which was possibly gelled into spikes, and was wearing a waist length-white jacket.

Anyone with information should call police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
