Passing through Cornmarket, I decided to listen to the speeches of the communists and republicans, who had gathered to commemorate Cromwell’s victory over the Royalists.
Although I found the speeches amusing, I find it hard to subscribe to this politics of envy.
The Queen works very hard for the people of Great Britain and is thrifty. She even uses her tea-bags twice!
As the poem Desiderata says: ‘There will always be greater and lesser persons than thyself.’ Therefore, envy is futile. And the idea of a president to replace the Queen is unappealing James Sargant, Argyle Street, Iffley Fields
