Burglars stole a laptop from a house after walking in through an unlocked door.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the burglary in Queen Emma’s Dyke, Witney, overnight on Saturday.

The stolen laptop was recovered by police in a nearby shop doorway and returned to its owner.

Crime prevention and reduction advisor John McNicholas said: “Please think about what sort of impression an opportunist burglar will have of your home. You can take some simple and inexpensive steps to make your home look occupied — it will dramatically reduce your chances of becoming a victim of burglary.”
