Sir – Although I feel sure Bill Heine would give serious consideration to becoming Oxford’s first Monument Czar, it seems no invitation is forthcoming from the Oxford City Council.
The photo you published to accompany Chris Walker’s article on the Gormley statue (March 12) more than ever convinces me that the reversed view is preferable.
However, in the interests of compromise and some variety, could not the statue be remounted on a turntable?
This could be electrically powered and rotate slowly, perhaps timed so that the full frontal view was presented during the hours of darkness?
