A 49-year-old man was left with a broken jaw following an assault at a busy petrol station in Wantage.
The man was walking towards the Sainsbury’s petrol station in Limborough Road at around 8.13pm on Monday when he said he was nearly hit by a green 4x4 vehicle, police said tonight.
After going to the forecourt to speak to the female driver of the vehicle he was then punched by a man, causing him to fall backwards and hit a newspaper rack.
The assailant was white, aged about 30 and around 5ft 8in tall.
He has a dark-coloured beard and was wearing a cap, brown boots, blue jeans and a three-quarter-length dark jacket.
Anyone with any information should contact Detective Sergeant Alan Clements at Abingdon police station on 08458 505505, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
