AN OLYMPIC medalist returned to her former school in Oxford to present prizes to pupils.

Bryony Shaw revisited Cheney School, in Headington, on Monday following her success in Olympic windsurfing in China last summer.

The 25-year-old, who learnt her trade at Oxford Sailing Club at Farmoor Reservoir, grabbed bronze in the RS:X event, Britain’s first medal in the sport.

Miss Shaw was at Cheney School for their annual prize-giving ceremony for Year 10 students and to talk to sixth formers. She is pictured with the prize-winners.

School spokesman Pete Desmond said: “It is particularly pleasing to see an ex-student achieve so much and be willing to come back to present awards to our students. She was a very bright pupil who stayed on into the sixth form.

“She was a star windsurfer back then and we all knew the likelihood was she would become famous.”
