The man heading up the Government agency that recently shelved plans to redevelop Abingdon and Witney College’s Witney Campus resigned today.
Mark Haysom, the chief executive of the Learning and Skills Council, was in charge when the £30m redevelopment of the Holloway Road site was put on hold.
The Witney scheme is one of 79 throughout England on hold because of the economic downturn.
In statement he said: “Thanks to the investments we have made on behalf of the Government we have been able to change the face of further education in towns and cities across England.
“It is then with huge regret that I have reached the conclusion that, because of the well-publicised difficulties with that programme, I should now announce I am stepping down from my role as chief executive.”
