University College boathouse in Oxford has received a top Civic Trust award for being among the best new buildings and rennovations in then country.
The £2.7m structure on the riverbank in South Oxford, which opened in 2007, replaced a listed boathouse that was destroyed by fire.
The building was paid for by a insurance pay-out and donations, has a large glass frontage on the second-floor and includes boat storage, repair bays, a gym and accommodation.
It was designed by Shahriar Nassar and built by the Kidlington-based construction company Kingerlee.
Brighton and Hove’s New Road and Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, Bexhill-on-Sea’s De la Warr Pavilion and Runnymede Civic Offices were all honoured by Restoration presenter Griff Rhys Jones.
