A JEALOUS homeless woman who pushed a stranger into the path of a bus was today jailed for two years.

Jennifer Ford shoved Emma Whisker in front of the bus in High Street, Oxford, in a random attack because she harboured resentment towards women who “had it all”.

Oxford Crown Court heard Miss Whisker, a trainee teacher, fell sideways into the road on December 17 and the bus ran over her left foot.

Jane Malcolm, prosecuting, said: “She sustained a crush injury to her heel and ankle.

“She was on crutches for some time. She thought she was going to die.”

Miss Malcolm said Ford told police she was upset with “smug” young women who looked like they had everything and had been planning such an attack for some time.

Ford, of Iffley Road, admitted causing grievous bodily harm.

Graham Russell, defending, said: “She is a woman who has spent much of her life on the streets or in temporary accommodation.”

Jailing Ford for two years, Mr Recorder John Hardy said: “You set upon a young lady who was entirely harmless and entirely innocent.”

Speaking outside court, Miss Whisker, 30, who was living in Cowley at the time but has since moved to Yorkshire, said she was pleased Ford would get help for her alcohol problems in jail.

She said: “She needs help.

“I am still in a lot of pain and have numbness but I’m very lucky.”
