A THREE-DAY celebration of folk music and morris dancing will begin in Oxford on Saturday.
More than 3,000 people are expected to attend Oxford Folk Festival events over the weekend.
The annual celebration of folk music was set up six years ago to highlight the city’s wealth of musical talent.
On Saturday morning, hundreds of morris dancers will dance from Oxford Castle to Cornmarket Street.
More than a dozen schools from across Oxfordshire have provided choirs to sing at concerts at the Town Hall in St Aldate’s and the Holywell Music Room.
Workshops on learning to play the fiddle, drums and guitar will also be held across the city as part of the festival.
Festival director Tim Healey said: “We routinely sell out of tickets and on the Saturday in the Town Hall the atmosphere is electrifying.”
