Three thousands homes lost power in the Blackbird Leys and Greater Leys areas of Oxford early this morning.
A spokesman for Southern Electric said power was lost at 4.42am and returned to all homes by 5.39am.
He said: “The vast majority of homes were re-connected very quickly and would only have had a very temporary interruption.
“We are still trying to ascertain what caused the power cut but our priority was to get power back on for those affected.”
