Sir – With job losses and redundancies in the county I was pleased to see in various new items that ‘Job Shops’ and Advice Days had been set up in order to advise people facing redundancy and unemployment. The advice would help with job search and retraining for future jobs.
Imagine my surprise when speaking to a friend who works with Adult Guidance Services now taken over by the county council along with the Connexions Service that she was to be made redundant!
Apparently, despite the number of referrals for this service coming via Connexions going up she will either have to be redeployed elsewhere in the county council or be made redundant.
My advice to her was to get advice from a guidance service — if she can find one!
